Welsh recruitment agency defies the trend

A major recruitment agency in Wales is reporting dramatic rises in business in 2008.

Intapeople, an recruitment agency specialising in engineering and IT have reported a 19% growth in their business this year. It's completely the opposite to so many of the large generalist agencies who have been downsizing on a grand scale.  At present the have 27 recruitment consultants but now plan to increase this 40 to cope with increased demand.

Phil Handley, the managing director feels that it is down to being a niche specific recruitment agency.  Although the demand for many workers has fallen, demand for high skilled people such as engineers has risen, in this case they report a figure of a 60% increase in demand for engineers.  Mr Handley believes the generalist agencies will continue to suffer at the hands of the economic downturn, but doesn't expect their firm to be adversely effected.
