IT salary rises reported by IT recruitment agency
In the midst of economic problems, an IT recruitment agency is reporting salary rises in the IT jobs sector.
The cause of the salary rises is simply a shortage of people with the desired skills. Recruitment agency Rethink recruitment surveyed it's clients and learned that more than 50% were expecting to need more IT staff this year, with only 13% expecting to cut staff.
Unfortunately, the raw numbers of people looking at IT careers has continued to fall, with the numbers of people applying to begin an IT degree having halved since 2001. IT is clearly still becoming ever more important in commercial strategies so for those left in the IT sector or indeed those training for it, the future looks bright for It workers whilst the rest of the economy struggles.
The recruitment agency explained that IT outsourcing from overseas may be responsible for stopping entry level IT workers from entering the market thereby creating the skills shortage at the other end.
